## Trust

- hygiene: 80
- liveness: 99
- freshness: 85
- provenance: 55
- drivers: +dns-namespace +website +reachable +uptime-97% ~updated-32d-ago -no-repository
- Derived from observable signals (official registry feed and our own credential-free probes); no code audit performed.

## Quality 89/100 (good)

### protocol: 88 (weight 25)

- pass `protocol.modern`: supports 2026-07-28 (server/discover)
- pass `protocol.stateless`: answers without a session
- pass `protocol.transport`: streamable HTTP
- warn `protocol.list_ttl`: tools/list declares ttlMs 0, so clients re-fetch it on every use

### authorization: n/a (weight 15)

- n/a `auth.prm`, `auth.as_metadata`, `auth.cimd`: no remote uses OAuth
- n/a `auth.secret_in_url`: no templated URL

### tool hygiene: 86 (weight 30)

- pass `tools.descriptions`: every tool has a description
- pass `tools.description_length`: descriptions are concise
- pass `tools.schemas`: every tool has an object input schema
- pass `tools.annotations`: 6 of 6 tools declare readOnlyHint or destructiveHint
- fail `tools.directory_hints`: no tool declares all four of readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint and openWorldHint; missing: list_terms (idempotentHint); search_records (idempotentHint); export_citations (idempotentHint); …
- pass `tools.token_cost`: about 769 tokens to load every tool
- pass `tools.api_dump`: tools are not a one-to-one API dump

### stability: 100 (weight 15)

- pass `stability.changes`: no tool changes in 30 days
- pass `stability.rug_pull`: no tool changed its meaning under the same name

### dependencies: n/a (weight 15)

- n/a `deps.known_vulns`, `deps.mcp_sdk_version`, `deps.resolvable`: no npm or PyPI package

- tools: 6, about 769 tokens to load them all
- tool set hash: dc9ec96a13133523806115c59fdd829b
- badge: [![protogrid quality](https://protogrid.dev/badge/org.videohistoryproject/research.svg)](https://protogrid.dev/servers/org.videohistoryproject/research)
- Checks run on what our credential-free, read-only probes observe; tools are never called and no code audit is performed.

## Tools (6)

- `describe_collection`: Describe the Video History Project collection, searchable text, filters, citation practices and response limits. Useful when beginning research.
- `export_citations`: Export citations for 1–25 VHP IDs or URLs. format is text or ris; target is publication (the cataloged work) or page (the VHP web page). Missing publication metadata returns a per-item error; choose page to cite a biography or history page.
- `get_record`: Read a public VHP record by ID or VHP URL, resolving old addresses locally. Returns metadata, source links, citations and a section of existing text. Default section is body; choose other section names from sections. Follow content.nextOffset with the same section and version for complete text. Linked scans are not read.
- `get_related_records`: Get the site's existing similarity suggestions for a public record. These are research leads, not evidence of a historical relationship. May return no suggestions when the index has none or the editor has disabled them.
- `list_terms`: Find catalog author or subject filter keys by part of a name. Returns exact keys, display labels and counts of discoverable records. field is author or subject. Follow nextPage; use a returned key in search_records.
- `search_records`: Search public VHP records by words or quoted phrases. Empty query browses. Combine exact author/subject keys from list_terms, recorded years and a type from describe_collection. Follow nextPage. Excerpts label their source; read get_record before quoting.
