# ExplorersMap

> Update your ExplorersMap travel map from an AI assistant: countries, regions, places and trips.

- name: net.explorersmap/explorersmap
- version: 1.0.0
- connection class: R2 (oauth_consent_once)
- trust: 79/100 flags: no-repository
- quality: 96/100 (strong)
- owner: not claimed
- descriptor: https://api.protogrid.dev/v1/servers/net.explorersmap%2Fexplorersmap
- tools: https://api.protogrid.dev/v1/servers/net.explorersmap%2Fexplorersmap/tools

**An agent can connect after a one-time OAuth consent by a human.** Remote endpoint behind OAuth 2. Tokens stay with the agent; the registry only exposes the authorization metadata.

## Connection (mcpServers)

Placeholders to fill: `${EXPLORERSMAP_TOKEN}`.

## Trust

- hygiene: 80
- liveness: 98
- freshness: 85
- provenance: 55
- drivers: +dns-namespace +website +reachable +uptime-95% ~updated-30d-ago -no-repository
- Derived from observable signals (official registry feed and our own credential-free probes); no code audit performed.

## Quality 96/100 (strong)

### protocol: n/a (weight 25)

- n/a `protocol.modern`, `protocol.stateless`, `protocol.transport`, `protocol.list_ttl`: no remote answered a protocol handshake (not probed yet, unreachable, or local-only)

### authorization: 83 (weight 15)

- pass `auth.prm`: Protected Resource Metadata (RFC 9728) published
- pass `auth.as_metadata`: authorization server metadata reachable
- warn `auth.cimd`: only Dynamic Client Registration, deprecated in 2026-07-28 in favour of CIMD
- n/a `auth.secret_in_url`: no templated URL

### tool hygiene: 100 (weight 30)

- pass `tools.descriptions`: every tool has a description
- pass `tools.description_length`: descriptions are concise
- pass `tools.schemas`: every tool has an object input schema
- pass `tools.annotations`: 18 of 18 tools declare readOnlyHint or destructiveHint
- pass `tools.directory_hints`: every tool declares readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint and openWorldHint
- pass `tools.token_cost`: about 2,372 tokens to load every tool
- pass `tools.api_dump`: tools are not a one-to-one API dump

### stability: 100 (weight 15)

- pass `stability.changes`: no tool changes in 30 days
- pass `stability.rug_pull`: no tool changed its meaning under the same name

### dependencies: n/a (weight 15)

- n/a `deps.known_vulns`, `deps.mcp_sdk_version`, `deps.resolvable`: no npm or PyPI package

- tools: 18, about 2,372 tokens to load them all
- tool set hash: 3aa19b5894862737a50cb08871919568
- badge: [![protogrid quality](https://protogrid.dev/badge/net.explorersmap/explorersmap.svg)](https://protogrid.dev/servers/net.explorersmap/explorersmap)
- Checks run on what our credential-free, read-only probes observe; tools are never called and no code audit is performed.

## Tools (18)

- `add_country`: Mark a country as visited. Accepts an ISO-2 code or the country name. Idempotent.
- `add_place`: Mark a specific place as visited — a monument, museum, airport, city, park and so on. Pass an id from search_places.
- `add_places_to_trip`: Attach places you have already marked to a trip. Pass visit ids from list_visited.
- `add_region`: Mark a state, province or département as visited. Accepts a region id (FR-95) or a name plus country. Idempotent.
- `create_trip`: Create a trip with a title and date range. Private by default.
- `delete_trip`: Permanently delete a trip. The places in it stay marked on the map — only the grouping is removed. Requires the exact trip id and confirm:true.
- `get_badges`: Achievements this account has earned, newest first.
- `get_rank`: This account's position on a global leaderboard, with the value it was ranked on and how many explorers are ranked in total. Boards: overall score, renown, countries, regions or places. Use it to answer "where do I rank" or to compare progress over time.
- `get_stats`: A summary of this account's map: how many countries, territories, regions and places are marked, the Explorer score, and the share of the world explored. Answers "how many countries have I been to", and is the quickest way to see where the user stands before suggesting what to add next.
- `list_trips`: The user's trips, newest first. Paged: check `total` against `returned` and follow `nextOffset` to read the rest.
- `list_visited`: Everything marked as visited, newest first. Paged: check `total` against `returned` and follow `nextOffset` to read the rest. Filter by type to keep the response small.
- `remove_country`: Unmark a country, undoing add_country. Accepts an ISO-2 code or the country name. Unmarking something that was never marked is not an error. This lowers the user's score, so confirm before removing anything they did not name.
- `remove_place`: Unmark a specific place such as a monument, museum, airport or city, undoing add_place. Accepts a place id from search_places or the exact place name. This lowers the user's score, so confirm before removing anything they did not name.
- `remove_region`: Unmark a state, province or département, undoing add_region. Accepts a region id like "FR-95", or a region name plus its country. Unmarking something that was never marked is not an error. This lowers the user's score, so confirm before removing anything they did not name.
- `search_places`: Find places in the 90,000-entry database — cities, airports, monuments, museums, parks, heritage sites and more. Use this to get an id before add_place. Matching is on part of the name, so short beats formal: "Louvre" finds it, "Musee du Louvre" may not. Types overlap (the Louvre is filed under heritage, not museum), so a type filter narrows rather than decides — anything it excludes comes back under otherTypes.
- `set_trip_visibility`: Publish a trip on the user's public profile, or take it private again. Private trips are visible only to the account owner. Always ask before making a trip public, since it then shows the trip's title, dates and places to anyone.
- `set_visit_dates`: Set the travel dates on something already marked as visited. Does not change score.
- `whoami`: Who the connected ExplorersMap account belongs to, and how much of today's fair-use quota is left.
